Introduction to Connectivity With Dlink Extender
I am a businessman and I own and operate a large bookstore business. I get orders from all over the country and so I have a large staff who are constantly working throughout the day, to cope up with the huge workload I have the latest networking set-up installed in my office.
It has been working great. I get tons of calls and emails from people who need their books delivered or need some form of help. The amazing Wi-Fi system meant that the entire office was connected to the network.
We also had a server with SSD drives installed in raid 0 configurations, which meant instantaneous access to any file in the office as all our data was stored on it.
But when the coronavirus pandemic began we all had to work from home and still maintain almost the same workload as many people who were at home started ordering a lot of books.
I have a decent Wi-Fi router at home with s great connection but I haven’t been getting the proper speed and range that I was getting as the router was just decent but not great.
This affected my work and business. In order to solve this mess, I searched online for a solution and purchased a dlink extender. It was just perfect and did exactly what I needed. I set it up using the dlink. local setup link. Given below is a detailed list of setup instructions.
Setting up the Dlink extender
The entire set-up process isn’t as complicated as one may think. It doesn’t require much technical know-how and can be done by anyone who can read the instructions.
I set up the extender in about 20 minutes. Before setting up the extender make sure to carefully unbox it and remove all the pieces of packaging, then plug it into a power socket and turn it on, then begins the actual setup process.
Now, once the extender has been turned on you can set it up using one of two ways either by using an ethernet cable or by wirelessly connecting it with your smartphone.
To set it up using an ethernet cable connect the ethernet cable to the extender and then insert the other end into your personal computer and head over to the default gateway by typing in the default i.p address and enter your login credentials or you can also head over to the http://dlinkap.local login page and set up the extender from there.
This concludes the setup via a wired connection. Once you have logged in to the page you can change the SSID and password of your extender and set it as a different AP or you can connect to your existing router by selecting the scan option and clicking on your router from the list of available devices.
Dlink WPS Setting
There are also other ways to set-up the extender as well. You can set-up the extender wirelessly or through WPS. For setting up wirelessly, make sure that the extender is connected with your smartphone or laptop.
Then the setup process is pretty much the same. After the setup has been completed you can now enter the login information to connect other devices to it.
To set-up, the extender via WPS press and hold the WPS button at the back of the extender for about 5 seconds till the lights start flashing, then do the same on the main Wi-Fi router.
Once the connection has been established you will see that the internet symbol will have turned green. This concludes the setup for the extender. If you want to further modify your http //dlinkap.local settings then login to it and change it.
WiFi Performance
If you want to ensure maximum Wi-Fi performance out of your extender then make sure to reboot it every week and keep in a spot that is halfway from the router as in that way your range will be excellent.
Now if you find that the dlinkap.local page is not opening then don’t worry as it is a common problem and it involves factory resetting your device as there is a mistake with the set-up. Once you have completed the factory reset follow the set-up instructions again and you are good to go.
