Does cellular network work here?
Yes and No. Let me explain. If you are holding BSNL connection, you will get almost 100% coverage. But if you are holding Airtel and Vodafone connection you may likely to get better coverage.
But if you are holding anything other than these three, you hardly get any network. When I visited I used to get a very poor 3G connectivity . SMSs and calls worked fine then.

Yes, Havelock Island provides two ATM machines near Beach No-1.
Where to eat snacks in Havelock Island?
Food items are expensive here. As it is already heavily commercialized. It is expressive than any other island.
Beaches to explore in Havelock Islands
Havelock Island is having multiple beaches almost dedicated to Scuba diving,Snorkeling Kayaking,Jungle trekking, Treak in elephant beach, KalaPathar beach sunrise, KalaPathar forest trek, Chaar naarial Trek, Sunset cruise, Bird watching Tower, Game fishing and Candle light dinner.
Jetty and Beach No-1
The moment you touch the jetty at Havelock, you can see the Beach-No-1.It is over crowded and full of family tourists. Worry Not.
Once you start exploring,you will get very less people on the other beaches. Introduction to Havelock may look scary due to Beach No-1,but once you get in,you will get enough privacy.
Diving Beach -Beach No-2
Beach-2 is popular for diving. The roads are not as good as you expect. It may be a narrow lane going towards Beach-2. The area is full with population. But do not worry. People are helpful and honest here. They don’t do any harm.
GovindaNagar Beach Beach No-3
If you love to experience nature at a calm place then GovindaNagar Beach is an ideal place for you. You can experience best scuba diving here.
GovindaNagar beach is named after the village GovindaNagar . This place offers awesome beach with shops and ATM facility.
There is a lighthouse nearby. You can go via ferry.
Vijaynagar Beach Beach No-5
If you love to experience nature at a calm place then Vijaynagar Beach is an ideal place for you. It is ranked number 5 as the best beach to enjoy the underwater activities.VijayNagar beach is named after the village Vijayanagar.
Vijaynagar beach is considered as the sunset point of havelock Island. This beach offers cream color sand with deep blue sea with a thick forest at the backdrop . It is difficult to swim in the low tide. There is huge amount of undercurrent that may drag you to Ocean.
The beach offers shops and ATM facility. It is less commercialized than Radhanagar beach hence you will get less crowd to enjoy the surroundings.
Radhanagar Beach Beach No-7
This beach is located at the southern coast of Havelock Island 11 km away from jetty. It is named as Asia’s best beach and ranked the 7th best beach in the world by Time magazine.
The beach is covered with pristine white sand and azure waters and it is a great place to enjoy luxury while having a fantastic experience.
Radhanagar beach offers crystal clear water,gentle sea wave,green forest and bright blue sea. Radhanagar beach is a white sand beach with full green trees.
You can go till your neck deep water and you can see the complete surroundings in the water. Being the most popular beach, it is generally over crowded. But do not get tensed.
The beach is huge enough to accommodate you in some place. Radhanagar beach is best during morning or late evening. It is the best sunset point of Havelock Island.
There is no water sports available here on the beach. There is a rumor that saltwater crocodile houses nearby.Do not venture isolated areas of the beach.
Do not miss the fish items available in the nearby shops. You can also try fresh juice,fruits and coconut here.
If you are here post lunch season, do not miss the sunset from Radhanagar beach.
Elephant beach
Tourists ferry also operate between the island once a day. Elephanta beach is also called” HATITAPU” Ten kilometres away from the Jetty on the North Western part of the island with rich coral reefs. The time taken via ferry is 20-30 minutes.
Elephant beach is famous for Snorkeling and exotic marine life. Shallow water makes it ideal for snorkeling.The beach is accessible via a boat or a ferry from Havelock.
Alternatively you can walk through a muddy road for almost 2KM to reach here.The road is a elephant logging trail.There are signboards everywhere, you can not miss direction.
However the beach is surrounded by thick lash green forest.I am sure you will surely enjoy the green trail trek here .
This beach is worst hit by the recent Tsunami. You can see the sign of destruction everywhere. The anger of mother nature converted into showpieces on the beach that made the beach even more attractive.
You can go to the elephant training camp and watch as the elephants are trained on how to carry heavy logs and perform other tasks. You can have an elephant ride tour to the thick forests and have a fantastic life experience.
Elephant swimming is one of the most spoken activities in Andaman with the 66-year-old elephant being the famous swimming elephant.
You can also opt for sea walking here. You will be amazed by the beauty of the live corals and their color.
The beach is good when it is low tide. During high tide,it is not safe to do water sports. There is a changing room available here.
Kaala Pathar Beach
It is located 12 KM from Havelock and it is one of the cleanest beaches in Andaman. The beach is great for those looking for a quiet place away from the popular and crowded beaches of Havelock.
Kala pathar english meaning is black rock or black stone. Kalapathar beach is ideal for solo travellers as you can tent here. You can also do fishing and camp fire.
The beach is relatively unexplored and doesn’t have advanced luxury facilities found on other beaches. This beach is also truly for professional photographers.
This beach is also considered as a sunrise point. The beach is full of rocks and not suitable for swimming.
The coastal line is well decorated with deep blue sea,lash green mangrove,beautiful colorful corals and black rocks. The entire area is covered with the mixture of white and yellow sand. You can imagine the scene.
Lots of local vendors offer snacks,fruits,fresh juice. You can also try hot pakoda here with a cup of tea.
Neil’s Cove
The great teal lagoon creates a picture perfect area. This area is made out of sand and water. It is a hidden gem of Havelock with its nice color attribute of the surroundings and calm water.
Be very careful if you have a plan to swim here . This area is said to have saltwater crocodile. This hidden spot became as tourist destination after a sad crocodile attack on 2010.
Buffalo Beach
Buffalo Beach is another tourist attraction in Havelock Island. It offers a pristine beach with superb snorkelling. You can also hire a glass-bottom boat to explore the marine life without drenching yourself.
Apart from these you can take a ferry around Havelock to roam. Like – Ritchie Archipelago, North,south,middle button,Law rence Island. You can not enter into these island without forest department’s permission.
Market
Market #3 is at the heart of Havelock and a great place to go shopping. You can find almost everything in the market from groceries, clothes, daily essentials, and other tourist attraction materials. The shops in the market are opened from morning till 03.00PM.
Kanjus Supermarket is the largest one shop for all need. Apart from this Bazar market is the main source to buy something in Havelock Island.
How to Explore Havelock Island?
The budgeted way is to avail government-operated bus. Then comes the tuk tuk,shared jeep. The most economical and convenient option is to hire a scooter. You can also opt for bicycle, bikes,4 wheeler.
The roads are up and down. They are narrow and empty. Bicycle is not a good option if you are not an expert. Scooter is the best.
Lastly, best way to explore Havelock is by walking. The more you walk here, you will get unique perspective of mother nature.
Best Restaurants to eat in Havelock Island Andaman
Havelock Island is fully commercialized and having a lot of restaurants. Here is a list of my fabulous three.
Full Moon Restaurant
The Full moon is one of the best restaurants in Havelock which has an outdoor sitting area. The restaurant is owned by Irish couple and offer Chinese, Indian and seafood cuisines.
The restaurant has the best menu in Andaman and you can enjoy excellent seafood, fresh cardamom fizzes, and fresh salad.
Anju Coco Resto
It serves Chinese, Indian, sea food cuisines, and vegetarian-friendly foods. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch, and late-night dishes to the tourists.
There are a lot of vegan option dishes and gluten-free options in their menu. The serving food quantity is excellent at fair prices.
A Beachside Cafe
The café is located in beach No. 2 behind Havelock Power House. This café serves international dishes in an open air dining room. The café serves local cuisine, Chinese, and Indian cuisines.
Best places to have great nightlife
Venom Bar
Venom Bar is one of the oldest and biggest bar on the island and a great place to be for a night out with your buddies. There are live bands although this depends on the months you visit the island.
Feel Good Restaurant
This is the only place you can enjoy Karaoke night in Andaman. The decorated party lights make the place welcoming and lets you have a great nightlife with a good collection of old tracks on the playlist.
Alto Espirito
This is a posh Spanish bar on the island and it can host corporate parties. The bar hosts a fantastic DJ party every New Year and all the visitors are treated to a cocktail dinner.
Nemo cafe
Nemo café can arrange a night party as per the visitor’s request. It allows visitors to enjoy a great nightlife while overlooking the greenish-blue ocean and experience a cool breeze from the beach. You can also book for a candlelight dinner and enjoy a relaxed nightlife.
Bonova Café and Pub
Bonova café and pub is a popular place among the tourist. It has a café on the ground floor and a pub at the top which offer great nightlife to the visitors.
Bonova pub is a great place for dancing, and entertainment as you enjoy your favorite drink. The pub houses occasional DJ nights.
Where to stay in Havelock?
As I said, Havelock is fully commercialized island. Hence you can get plenty of options. Here are my eight favorite resorts:
Silver Sand Resort
This is probably the most expensive option in Havelock Island.They offer luxurious A/C wooden cottage. They are known for excellent food.
Andaman Lagoon Room
They offer very modern and sea view rooms and villa. They also provide excellent seafood.
Munjoh Ocean Resort
They offer excellent cottage with private beach facility with very nice landscape. They provide bicycle and scooters to the visitors to roam around Havelock.
Unfortunately they do not have a swimming pool. Do you really care ? when you have the bigger swimming pool nearby. :). By the way they also provide finger-licking food.
Barefoot Resort
Old,reliable and well known resort. It is very famous for its unique experience with mother nature. They provide wood cottage,tents,villa.
You will not get any TV,Internet,cellular connection. A complete isolation experience. It is often said Barefoot is not all about food, facilities,resorts, it is an experience overall.
Sea shell
Sea shell is an old, village-like resort with sea-facing rooms with complimentary breakfast. They have swimming pool and kids play area and they also have a sea-facing bar with live music. More-so offer two different restaurants facility and they have in house dive center.
Dolphin Resort
Dolphin Resort is run by government. They provide sea-facing rooms,private beaches. They have restaurant,bar,conference hall facility but they do not have room service.
Emerland Gecko
This resort is most loved by foreigners and backpackers. It’s location is right on the beach. It offers resort,bar,restaurants and shop facility.
Island Vinnie’s
A full service dive resort. This is perfect for serious divers. Housing option-standard,Hut,Tent.
